Whiskey Dick Records was founded by two guys who were tired of looking at each other over the bar and decided to do something about it. Their first thought was to quit hanging out in bars, but that was soon recognized as a mistake. They took another tack and decided they should hang out in bars and hang out in other places, too. Not being the church-going types, they figured bringing rock to the people was the way to go. In a land of long, dark rainy nights, there is seldom solace more profound than a single track on repeat and a healthy dose of bourbon...
Joel "The Bartender" McBourbon-Drinker is a 10-year veteran of indie rock. Serving as muscle, booking agent, bartender and guerilla marketing guru for the now-defunct Bates Motel in Austin, Texas, Joel cut his eye teeth at the only bar on 6th street that didn't have air conditioning. After moving back to Portland, he took up residence (literally) at EJs and did a stint as booking agent, bar manager, and originator of the infamous "Joel's Bitch" hand stamp.
Former bartender at the punk rock haven Club 21 in Portland, and oft-times tour manager with Lopez (and any other band that'll take'em) Joel is now co-owner of the B-Side Tavern. Despite having worked in two rock clubs that are no longer in business, Mr. McBourbon-Drinker still believes in the power of rock and serves as Quality Control for Whiskey Dick Records. If you want to work with us, you have to talk to him.
Kord "Beam & Coke" McBusinessGuy can often be found at Club 21. After taking five years to finish a degree in philosophy and realizing it wasn't going to make him rich or get him chicks, he went to work as a management consultant where he learned lots of ways to make businesses go "wheeee"...
After learning that he could get rich doing that, but would have to work with suits everyday, he saw the error of his ways and started going to rock shows and staying up late. He feels much better now. The driving force behind the "All Day Club" at Club 21 (7AM-2:30AM, open to close and you can't leave the building), he has yet to achieve the feat himself. But he's kinda like that.
He tips Joel well and handles the business end of Whiskey Dick Records. If you're a band and you want to work with us, he'll figure out if we can afford it or not. If you want to partner with us to provide services (publicity, distribution, etc.) just talk to Kord. Joel will just cut you off and tell you to call him anyway.
